Au Pair or Nanny job description

Responsibilities are getting my son up in the morning (Mon-Fri), feeding him breakfast and transporting him to school and possibly picking him up some days and feeding him dinner (only when I am late from work). Weekends will be very rare, only in emergency situations. Some nights also he will need a bath and be put to bed.

There may be some vacation travel.

Some light housework and light meal prep.

Family's Message to Au Pair or Nanny

I am a single mom and we live in a 1.5 level, single family home. I also have a dog who is the sweetest as can be, but can appear scary to strangers. Care of the dog not necessary but a big plus if you are a dog person. I work a typical 40-hr workweek but my commute is long and I have to leave very early in the morning. My son hates to wake up as he also hates to go to sleep so that may be a challenge initially. Some days he can be difficult but I am tough on him and expect anyone else to be as well. Whining wins him nothing and I don't want anyone who would give in to whining. He is not spoiled and I expect him to earn his rewards. I may be tough, but I am fair and easy to get along with. I am constantly learning myself so am not afraid to admit when I am wrong. I am easy to talk to and no one should feel afraid to express any concerns for fear of upsetting me. Expect that I may have certain beliefs of how something should go and I have no problem explaining my reasons. They may change if errors in my logic are revealed.

While I may be a stickler for certain things (such as no pop in the house, only water when thirsty, fast food not to exceed twice a month), I am fun and so is my son. We like adventures and like to plan at least 1 vacation a year.

We enjoy learning about other cultures so welcome any teaching to my son about your culture.
