Au Pair's Message to Families

Dear Host Family,

My name is Emilie, I'm 22 and I live in Hardelot, at two hours from Paris, France, with my Mum Christine, my Dad Jean-Claude and my brother Aurélien (25). My Mum is an accountant and My Dad is a captain. Aurélien got his Master's Degree in Management in July 2008. They support me in my decision to go to the USA. We have two dogs called Laly (12) and Scapin (7). I love animals !

After my year in the USA, I'd love to take back my studies and to become a doctor. I got my driver's licence two years ago and I love driving !

I love children and I feel good and comfortable when they are around because they are spontaneous, creative and sensitive ! I think they bring a lot of love and happiness in a family !

During my studies, I've looked after Louis for 2 years, he is 5 years old and I still baby-sit him :). He's the sweetest boy I've ever met ! We have a lot of fun together : we play with his toys (a lot of cars :)), watch DVDs and sing songs. I am in charge of preparing his meals, picking him up from school, making him having him bath and helping him to get dressed. I also help his brothers Fabien (12) and Mathieu(15) for their homeworks and once or two twice a month, I look after them at night. In January, I started to baby-sit Sarah (10) and Nicolas(8) every Wednesday, from 9 a.m to 6 p.m. We do many activities during the day : we draw and paint, we sing and sometimes play video games. In the afternoon, I take Nicolas to his football training. On Saturdays, I sometimes baby-sit a girl called Julianna, she is 9 and very sweet. She loves playing with her dolls, watching DVDs wich deal with nature and animals, and we often draw together. I also took care of 12 chidren from 6 to 14 years old, several hours each day in a Private Institute for 15 months. I could adapt my schedule according to my baby-sitting. It was great ! I had to stop in August because i had no more enough time but I still pay them a visit every Sundays.

Going to the USA as an au pair would be a great opportunity for me. I would improve my English, I would know the American culture and visit this beautiful country, but the most important thing for me is that I want to take care of children as if they were my own little brothers and sisters ! I’d like to teach them many things, play with them, draw, sing, go for walks, and maybe teach them a bit of French ! Being in a family itself would permit me to see what is really the american way of life, to live it.. may be a dream.ica represents a myth and living it from the inside must be amazing ! You'll remember a lot of things !!

I’m a funny, loving, patient and reliable person. I’m responsible, stable, organized and respectful. The most important values for me are honestly, communication and respect. I’m also very curious, I love discovering new places, new food and meet new people ! I’m open-minded and outgoing even if I’m a bit shy at first ! My friends say I’m someone who listens a lot to people, I am a good advisor and I have a good sense of humour !!

Im my spare time, I love cooking (cakes and pastas are my speciality ! ), going to the movie, to concerts, listening to music, having a coffee with my friends, reading books, surfing on the internet and travelling a lot ! I went to the United Kingdom, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, Turkey and Mauritius. I also like playing the piano ( I learnt for 4 years) and doing sport.
