Au Pair job description

Your job would include getting the youngest kids ready for day-care and bringing them there 4-5 mornings/week, and picking them up from school/day-care and playing with them until we get back from work 2-4 days a week. When you are not with the kids we appreciate if you can help us keep the house in decent shape (cleaning, washing, laundry). The house work you can do at times when it suits you. All together you will not need to work more than 25 hrs/week and the schedule will be fairly flexible.

We are a happy social family where both parents work as doctors. We do not work crazily much, but the problem is that we normally start early in the mornings and often work night-shift. Our three kids (born -02, -04 and -07) are energetic, happy and care tremendously for one-another. Their grandparents do not live far away and help us out alot.

Family's Message to Au Pair

We are looking for a person who can join us for a year and hopefully get a valuable and joyful experience in Sweden, learn Swedish and find new friends. You need to be responsible, independent, caring, careful and always put safety first. We believe it is very important with a relationship where you are honest towards us and tell us what your expectations and needs are, from our first contact and throughout your stay with us. We will be honest to you. We are very flexible people and have a lot of experience of working and studying abroad. We have had an au-pair before and it has worked out excellently.

You will receive a proper introduction and we will make sure you know the kids and us well before you start working properly. We would love if you can join us in the summer of 2009.

Halmstad is a fantastic city in the south of Sweden just by the sea. There is a small university with excellent opportunities to study Swedish and other subjects (in English) since the University has a lot of exchange students. We think it is important that you are prepared for and willing to make friends and involve yourself in activities outside the family. We will help you in arranging this. Our house is 1 km from the city centre and 0.5km from the sea. You will have an own room with internet connection, TV and your own bike.
