Au Pair's Message to Families

HI FAMILIES I´M LOOKING FOR A FAMILY AS SOON AS POSIBLE I THINK THAT I´M A GOOD BOY :) AND I HAVE A LOT OF EXPERIENCE WITH CHILDREN IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTION JUST ASK. I´M NOT A PAID MEMBER OF THIS SITE SO YOU NEED TOSO THIS IS MY LETTER: Dear family. My name is Dorian and I am 23. I study Business Administration at the University and music at the National Conservatory of Music. I live in a city called La Paz, which is the political capital of Bolivia this city has a lot of people and I live exactly in the center where it is more congested. I like all kinds of sports especially cycling and basquetball, my favourite hobby is the music I like to play the drums and percussion also I like to help people so I take part in local volunteer groups.

When I was 13 up to now I participate in a group that is dedicated to give toys in Christmas to poor children or homeless in a campaign called “por la sonrisa de un niño” (for the smile of a child), we can give more than 60.000 smiles each Christmas, we also do other activities during the year with orphans, old people and sick children. When I was 17 during 2 years I was involved as a volunteer in a group called S.A.R (Search and Rescue) where I learned advanced first aid and other activities related to rescue, we work in natural disasters and accidents. Also I was a leader in these groups.

I have 2 brothers Emanuel (26) he is Engineer and Miguel (21) he is studing at University. We have a very special relationship and we share our pleasure for the music. Usually we see movies and hear music in the evening and at the weekends. My mother Luzmila is a lawyer and my father Reynaldo is a Doctor, both are magnificent parents and like a friend of trust for me. We spend a lot of our spare time together, going on trips and doing other leisure activities. We also have a dog called Benji who is part of the family, and a very good friend to all of us.

I regularly help my mother with the cooking and housework at the weekends, and looking after our garden also I help my father and I do the heavy duties in the house. During the week I usually go to the university in the afternoons and in the mornings work in a childcare center near our house. I help to look after children between the ages of 1 and 5. I really enjoy this job, because I love looking after children.

In the childcare center I take care of 4 or 5 children. We usually work with puzzle and didactic games we also use paintings and other handiworks, I like a lot to work with children because we have a lot of fun and I think that it is important to stimulate from early age the capacities of the children. I also took care of the son of a friend, his name is Jorge and he is 3 years old, it was really a privilege to take care of him because he is the most tender and educated boy that I known, my duties were to play with him, to prepare their food and to feed him, also to put him in the bed for the nap, sometimes we went to the park to play and to buy candies, it was a very beautiful experience to take care of this boy.

I have decided to be an au pair in U.S.A. because I hope it can help me to improve my English, and my career, as I want to be a teacher when I leave university. I would also like to meet new friends, get to know U.S.A. and its culture and be more responsible and independent. I think this is the ideal way because I like children and I am used to looking after them.

I am looking forward to learning all about your country and I would like to become a part of your family and like an older brother for your children.
