Au Pair's Message to Families

Dear Host Family,

My name is Nisia, I am 26 years old and I live with my mother Lizete and my aunt Marildes. My parents are divorced since I was 16 years old and he lives in another city and I don’t get in touch with him very often. I also have 2 oldest brothers, Luciano, 33 years old and Luis Claudio, 32 years old. Both of them are married and has children, my nephew Joao Victor is 9 years old and my niece Raquel is 22 month. I live in a city called São José dos Campos, it’s around 1 hour and half by car from São Paulo, the most important city in Brazil. São José dos Campos is considered the bigest city of my area inspite of the fact we are located in a countrysideere is a square next to my house and I like to go there almost everyday to walk alone, to meet my friends, with my mother, to play with the kids, to ride a bycicle and walks dogs. I like to live here and enjoy everything that my city can offer to me. I am a very curious person and interested person, I like to dedicate myself as better as I can in everything that I do. I try to keep the harmony and good relationship with everybody around me, I am always open to listen someone elses advices and take all the good thing from it. I have a strong personality although I am very flexible and I can understand that each person has a different personality, likes and dislikes. I am also very sensible, friendly, I always keep the good mood and I love to make and keep all my friends around me. I have a good relationship with my family, relative and friends. I keep my comum sense in everything that I do plus I look for reach all my goals. This year one of my dreams came true, I finally got graduate at university, now I am an enviroment engineer. My graduation it was the happiest moment of my life and it was also very proud to my family because they were expecting it from me. My house is the family point, every single Sunday, all my family get together to have lunch, it is a brazilian tradition. We celebrate other things together, like christmas and new year’s eve. My niece Raquel, stay in my home twice per week because my brother and his wife need to work, so when the little girl is around, it is always a pleasure moment for us, because she bring all the kindness and love of a child. My nephew, João Victor, is on the 3rd grade even though he spends some times with us for the same reasons. It was always pleasure all the moments beside them and be part of their life it is really important to me. I like to write and read, I have kind of a diary but i just write some of most important moments of my life and i try to write some poems too. I like to go out with my friends but at the same time I like to stay at home, there are some days that i don’t change my home for nothing else. I believe that we need some time for out own, so in theses days I prefer put my things aways and take care of myself. I like to use the internet, read some news about music, movies and talk to some friends of mine. I also like to watch movies and listen music. When I took care of the boys, it was very good, it was very responsable too because it is different take care of some one else who doens’t belong to our family, it needs from you more patient, attention, but it was an important experience. it can not be measured at all the fact you give and have the love returned from the children. I always did something different and funny with them. They like to play ball especially or ride a bike. When we need to stay at home, we used to paint, draw and play board games. Pedro Henrique, the oldest one, was 6 years and in the first grade. I always tried to help him and give some good advices about school activities. Matheus was 5 years and he was in kindgarden and he hasn’t lots of activities there so I used to entertained him with some crayons and paint. After I picked them up at school, we had lunch together. They liked to help me at the snack time in the afternoon, their favorite snack was bread cheese, a typical brazilian food. The children were always cleaned and fed and they didn’t use to get a nap in the afternoon, when they seemed a little tired, I put them in bed to a early nap. Sometimes besides I took care of the boys I used to take care of my nephew, those were more agitated days. It was a very special moment of my life becuase besides i helped two of my best friends with their children, I learned a lot too, I was blessed to recieved affection and love from them. To be an aunt it is really good and helped me a lot to learn how to take care of chidren but i can say in a special way that my experience with children out of my family helped me a lot to become an au pair. My experience with children woke inside me the desire of stay in touch with children and be part of their life, understand there needs, learn to get through on their hard times.
