Au Pair job description
I am a disabled individual who uses a wheelchair for mobility. I am seeking a young woman to help me with my daily living activities. I live and work in lower Manhattan. I am looking for someone who can stay with me from Wednesday afternoon through Sunday evening each week. This is not a difficult job. It requires light housekeeping. The only language I speak is English so an understanding of English is necessary. Salary is negotiable.
Family's Message to Au Pair
This is a excellent job for a student or an individual who enjoys reading. Below is a brief description of the position.
This is not a difficult job. My previous assistant Agnes was from Poland. She spent six months with me and had to return to Poland because her mother was very ill. Agnes use to call the job her sanctuary.
I currently reside in both New York City (Manhattan, Battery Park City) and Wayne, New Jersey. I have an apartment in Manhattan and my parents have a house in New Jersey. My parents are my primary caregivers. I am hoping to find someone to ease their burden.
I am a 44-year-old Ivy League educated attorney. I use to work on Wall Street. I currently work out of my apartment in Battery Park City in lower Manhattan. My apartment is a large three-bedroom apartment with views of the Statue of Liberty from every window.
I use a wheelchair for mobility. I have used a wheelchair since I was 14 years of age. On September 11, 2001, I was caught up in the World Trade Center terrorist events and had to spend seven months in the hospital. I lost my independence because of the injuries I sustain as a result of the terrorist attack. All of the dust from the Trade Center destruction made me very sick. It is a long story but I am doing very well now.
I need someone to help me with my daily living activities-changing, bathing, eating, transferring. This is all very easy to do. My 70-year-old mother is small and not very strong and she does it with ease. My mother generally spends a day or two with my new assistant and teaches them everything that needs to be done. No memorization is necessary. I know everything that needs to be done well.
There is also light housekeeping and laundry. There are no screaming children. Just me. I do not scream.
The hours are from Wednesday at two o'clock through Sunday at two o'clock.
It is a sleepover job. I have separate sleeping accommodations for my assistant.
There is a large swimming pool with wonderful views of Manhattan on the 46th floor of my building. I go swimming just about every day for approximately an hour. My assistant comes with me and is also welcome to swim as well. There is a lifeguard always on duty.
Most of the day I spent working in my computer. Periodically I request a cup of tea.
At night I usually go to dinner or a movie and take my assistant with me.
If my assistant eats with me I pay for the food. It my assistant wishes to eat alone the food is on the assistant.
My apartment has two big-screen TVs and Internet wireless access.
This is an excellent job for student or someone who likes to read because there is a tremendous amount of free time.
I hope this answers some of your questions. The best way to really get a feel for what the job has to offer is to interview.
I am Ivy League educated, financially independent and a very hard worker. I graduated from Columbia University School of Law and from the University of Pennsylvania and Wharton. Manhattan is my playground and has proven to be a wonderful place to experience life and practice law.
I always find time for friends, family, and fun. My family and friends are very important in my life and I am very close to them. They would describe me as a very smart fellow who has a good sense of humor. I am very even-tempered and do not easily get angry. I am analytical, creative and determined. I am capable of overcoming great obstacles and can do so with style. I love life and I love people. I always try to look at the amusing side of life. I am very loyal to my friends and family.
I enjoy going to dinner, movies, theater, reading, swimming, surfing the Internet and traveling. I am good-natured and have a talent for meeting people. I also have many friends in the City.
I am a great teacher, student, partner and friend, as well as an idealist. I am looking for a young woman who is intelligent, compassionate, and patient. She must have a warm heart, a smile and a good sense of humor.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Joe
