Au Pair's Message to Families

Chère famille,

Il y a deux années, j’ai passé un été très agréable comme au pair. J’ai hâte de répéter l’expérience. Je suis étudiante en droit à Paris depuis deux années (ça fait partie d’une diplôme de quatre ans organisé par mon université à Dublin). Je fais des grands efforts pour améliorer mon français, je voudrais le parler couramment. Un été j’ai travaillé comme serveuse dans une station de ski en Suisse, qui m’a beaucoup plu, donc si vous vivez dans les montagnes ça serait une plus pour moi ! J’ai étudié l’allemand à l’école mais ça fait quelques années maintenant et j’ai beaucoup oublié. Cependant je crois que je ferais assez rapidement du progrès si j’avais l’occasion. Je suis calme, de bonne humeur et bien organisé. J’aime m’occuper des enfants, jouer avec eux et les lire des histoires.

Dear family,

I spent a very enjoyable summer as an au pair two years ago, and I am eager to repeat the experience. I have been studying law in Paris for the past two years, as part of a four-year university degree. My French is therefore quite good but I would like it to be even better. I spent a summer working as a waitress in a ski resort in Switzerland, which I really enjoyed, so if you live in or near a ski resort that would be a definite plus for me! I studied German at school, but unfortunately it’s a little rusty at the moment. I am sure it would come back to me very quickly if I were in a German family. It would be great to get the chance to improve it. I am calm, good humoured, and organised. I enjoy looking after children, playing games and reading stories to them.
