Au Pair or Nanny job description
Full time live-in au pair or live out domestic nanny sought to care for three children. Work hours generally will be between 8 am and 6pm most weekdays. The two older child are in school part of the day excluding holidays and vacations. Only occasional weekend or evening care will be needed and you will be let know ahead of time if this is to occur. We expect you to prepare meals for the kids, transport them to and from school, and clean up after them, keeping their rooms neat and tidy and cleaning up the kitchen and common areas you use during the day. We also expect you to keep your room and bathroom neat and clean. We appreciate help with their laundry. We are currently working through Au Pair Care agency and are looking to fill a position our current nanny who is leaving us early. Our first au pair originally came to the US only expecting to spend one year, but liked it here so much, she extended to two years. So you will find a happy home with us!
Family's Message to Au Pair or Nanny
Dear Au Pair We are a couple in our 30s, living in South Carolina. Greenville, South Carolina, US, has all 4 seasons, but the winters are very mild. We occasionally see snow, but we also have warm days in the winter as well. We love it here because the sun seems to shine almost every day. We are both professionals working full time. We have three loving children, a infant boy, born at the end of 2008, a 3 year old girl and a 6 year old boy. We currently have a live-in au pair, who will be leaving us and we are looking to replace her. She has been very helpful to us. She takes our older children to school in the mornings. With the addition of our newest son, the responsibilities will be increased, so you must be very organized. Right now, her responsibilities are: helping to ready the children for school in the morning, picking up our daughter at lunchtime, feeding her and putting her down to a nap. After the nap, they pick up our son, who is in kindergarten. They spend afternoons playing games, going to the zoo or parks with her. We then come home and usually have dinner together and our au pair can join us for that or do her own thing at that point (she is off the clock, so to speak, once we get home) and then we put the kids to bed after playing. Only rarely do we need help on weekends, but our au pair helps us when that occurs. We have become very close with some of our au pairs and they have become another member of our family. Our au pair has her own bedroom and bathroom downstairs in our house with her own private entrance, so she can get away to have her own time, if she needs it. Our neighborhood has its own pool, tennis courts and gym for working out. Our town is very nice with lots of great restaurants, shopping and cultural activities, beautiful scenery and nearby mountains, and is also close to Atlanta and Charlotte, much bigger cities. One of our au pairs enjoyed taking some family trips with us too. She helped us by watching them some while we were there, but got to see places she wouldn't have otherwise seen. We do have a car for her to use to take the children to school. She is allowed to use it for school for herself and if, we think she is trustworthy, we may eventually let her use it for social reasons, within limitations. We have high expectations of our nannies, but a trusted nanny will be rewarded with our love and a great experience in the US. We cannot tolerate any smoking at all, excessive drinking or other illegal behavior. The reason we are replacing our current au pair is that we have caught her being dishonest to us and cannot really trust a dishonest person with our precious children, so please know that honesty is essential if you want to be a part of our family. We want you to have fun during your time in the US, but we don't want to have to get you out of any bad situations and we don't want our children put in danger. They are too precious to us. We look forward to hearing from you and you can speak with our first au pair to know what it has been like to live with us. If you are an American live out nanny, we would expect you to have your own car and insurance. We are currently working with Au Pair Care, so if you are with an agency, you must be with that one. We are also open to the option of a live out domestic nanny, if you are reliable and can assure us you will not call in sick on a regular basis. Our jobs are not conducive to last minute cancelllations of childcare. Please contact us for more details and information regarding this wonderful opportunity.
