Au Pair or Nanny job description
We are an Australian family with 4 young children aged 1,3,4,6. We have recently moved from London to a ski resort / mountain village in the Swiss Alps (Villars-sur-Ollon) where the kids are attending school, and where we are all enjoying the outdoor lifestyle. We are looking for a responsible but fun-loving nanny who will help us look after our kids. We also expect to be traveling in Europe and would like our nanny to join us on great holidays in exotic destinations. Our kids love the outdoors so ideally you will be active, energetic and sporty. This can be a live-in or live-out role. It is a full-time position, but we are flexible on timing so you can have time off to pursue your own interests and activities. You need to be an English speaker (and ideally you will also be fluent in French to help our children learn the language, but this is not a pre-requisite). A great personality, a positive attitude, and a genuine love of kids are pre-requisites!
Family's Message to Au Pair or Nanny
Dear Nanny / Au Pair
If you are the right person, then you will be more than a nanny / au pair. You will be included as part of our family and will be involved in all our fun filled activities. You must be able to: play football (any code!) and any other ball sport; have a bluffer's ability to know everything about toy cars; be willing to do or learn the same activities as the kids such as skiing, boarding, walking, undertaking epic cycle tours, play snakes & ladders, snap, do jigsaw puzzles, draw (you don’t need to be an artist), play hide & seek, be able to watch Lightning McQueen for the millionth time (although lately Kung Fu Panda and Shaun the Sheep seem to be more popular); and to lie on the floor and let our baby girl crawl over you. There is the not so fun side such as: helping with getting the boys ready for school; the kid’s laundry; organising and cooking their dinners; avoiding getting wet at bath time; and convincing them to do the dreaded homework. On a lighter note we are flexible and the kid caring will be shared between my husband (!), you and me so we can each have time to enjoy the great outdoors.
We travel a lot and plan to make the most of school holidays and we would include you in our travels. So far we have been living in London but have been to Verbier, Cefalu Sicily, Corsica, Lapland, Scotland and parts of England. So if this excites you, and you can confidently drive in Switzerland and have the relevant experience and first aid qualifications, then please contact us.
